Frequently Asked Questions

All Ed.D. students are required to participate in one Summer Institute to fulfill their degree requirements.

The 2023 Summer Institute dates are Thursday, July 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for U.S. Students. All activities will take place virtually.

The 2023 Summer Institute will be offered virtually via Zoom and Canvas.

Participating in one Summer Institute is a requirement for graduation.

  • If this is your first year in the program, you are not required to participate in the 2023 Institute. If for some reason you cannot participate this year, we look forward to seeing you at the 2024 Summer Institute.
  • If this is your second year or longer in the program and you have yet to meet the program requirement of participating in at least one Institute, you are required to participate in the 2023 Summer Institute to fulfill this graduation requirement.

Yes. Returning Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice Ed.D. students are encouraged to participate and take advantage of the numerous workshops by registering for FSC 8005. Online registration is easy at

First-Time Participants: Registration for FSC 8000 will open on March 27, 2023 and will close on May 7, 2023; the registration fee is equivalent to 1 credit hour.

Returning Students: Registration for FSC 8005 will open on March 27, 2023 and will close on May 7, 2023; the registration fee is equivalent to 1 credit hour.

Students registering for FSC 8000 or FSC 8005 will pay a fee equivalent to 1 credit.

At the completion of the summer semester, and after verification that attendance and all requirements (concurrent sessions, workshops, assignments, etc.) have been met, a grade of "Pass" will be issued for FSC 8000 (1 credit) and FSC 8005 (1 credit). This final grade will appear on your transcript for FSC 8000 or FSC 8005.
