Frequently Asked Questions

All Ed.D. students are required to attend one Summer Institute to fulfill their degree requirements.

The 2020 Summer Institute dates are Friday, July 10, Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, 2020 for U.S. Students.  The on-campus attendance requirement is waived for 2020 and all activities will take place virtually.  The all-day sessions will begin at 9:00 am and end at 4:15 pm (EST) all three days.

The 2020 Summer Institute will be offered virtually via Zoom and Canvas.  The on-campus attendance requirement for the Institute is waived and all activities will take place virtually for the year 2020.

Participating in one Summer Institute is a requirement for graduation.

  • If this is your first year in the program, you are not required to participate in the 2020 Institute. If for some reason you cannot participate this year, we look forward to seeing you at the 2021 Summer Institute. 
  • If this is your second year or longer in the program and you have yet to meet the program requirement of participating in at least one Institute, you are required to participate in the 2020 Summer Institute to fulfill this graduation requirement.

Yes. Returning Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice Ed.D. students are encouraged to participate and take advantage of the numerous workshops by registering for FSC 8005. Online registration is easy.

First-Time Participants: Regular registration for FSC 8000 began on March 23, 2020 and will close on May 31, 2020; the registration fee is $710. Late registration for FSC 8000 will be accepted from June 1 through July 1, 2020 and will incur an additional late fee of $100.  

Returning Students: Regular registration for FSC 8005 began on March 23, 2020 and will close on May 31, 2020; the registration fee is $350. Late registration for FSC 8005 will be accepted from June 1 through July 1, 2020 and will incur an additional late fee of $100.

At the completion of the summer semester, and after verification that attendance and all requirements (concurrent sessions, workshops, assignments, etc.) have been met, a grade of "Pass" will be issued for FSC 8000 (1 credit) and FSC 8005 (1 credit). This final grade will appear on your transcript for FSC 8000 or FSC 8005.
