Message from the Department Chair

Michael SimonsonWelcome to the Department of Instructional Design & Technology (IDT)!

The Instructional Design & Technology Department offers two doctoral concentrations (Curriculum and Teaching, and Instructional Technology and Distance Education), as well as a variety of Master’s and Educational Specialist programs that prepare leaders in education and related fields, especially for government and industry.

The department combines the longstanding fields of curriculum and instructional technology with the emerging discipline of distance education, while concentrating on education and training from elementary schools to colleges and into the training departments of corporations. Our hundreds of graduates are leaders in local, state, national, and international organizations.

The IDT faculty and staff are available to help you. Graduate-level education is the pinnacle of educational achievement. It is a time-consuming and sometimes difficult journey—but a journey on which you will have guides and companions. Once again, welcome!
