Anymir Orellana, Ed.D. is a Professor at the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice, Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She teaches online graduate courses in the areas of instructional technology, distance education, instructional media, and instructional design. She earned an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education (ITDE) from NSU, an M.S. in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering from the University of Florida, and a B.S. in Informatics Engineering from Universidad Centroccidental “Lisandro Alvarado” in Venezuela.
She has made significant contributions to the field of ITDE with her publications, collaborative endeavors, and presentations in national and international venues, in English and Spanish. Her research interests in ITDE are related to quality online education, universal design for learning, and media and technology for learning.
Her teaching and scholarship has been recognized with awards such as the 2020-2021 “Professor of the Year at the Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice,” the “Certificate of Recognition of the 2018-2019 Professor of the Year from the Department of Higher Education Leadership & Instructional Technology,” the “Dr. Charles L. Faires Dissertation of Distinction Award” as recognition to the work with her dissertation students, and second place 2011 IAP Distance Education Book Award by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology for her book “The Perfect Online Course: Best Practices for Designing and Teaching.”
Equip the next generation of tech innovators by teaching core computer science concepts,
programming, and problem-solving, while integrating modern technologies to foster
creativity and critical thinking.
She has also earned the 2022 Visionary Award for Distinguished Leadership, awarded
by the Florida Distance Learning Association.
