A native of Puerto Rico, Herminia Janet Rivera is an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler College of Education, where she teaches Undergraduate and Graduate Early childhood, Elementary and Multicultural Education courses. Dr. Rivera received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 2006 after writing a dissertation on culturally relevant teaching. Her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in education are from the University of Puerto Rico.
Dr. Rivera’s research interests involve a wide array of topics dealing with early, elementary and multicultural education including culturally relevant teaching, STEM and developmentally appropriate practices in the preschool classroom.
