Before joining NSU as a full-time faculty member in 2003, Dr. Rashid Moore earned his doctorate in Language Education from Indiana University at Bloomington as well as Master's degrees in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Southern Illinois University and French at Illinois State University. His academic background includes over 30 years in the TESOL field in Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and overseas in Malaysia for seven of those years.

 Since joining NSU, Professor Moore has coordinated undergraduate ESOL courses and assisted in securing state approval for the ESOL infusion of several undergraduate programs. He has worked with teachers in Ecuador, Chile, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Professor Moore has presented on the topics of technology integration in TESOL and TEFL, including co-presenting in Santiago, Chile with a former Fischler graduate student who now coordinates in the English Opens Doors program of the Chilean Ministry of Education. In addition, Professor Moore served on the board of the Sunshine State TESOL organization, a state affiliate of TESOL International. Recently, he has been involved in the creation of a diversity simulation for the undergraduate teacher education program at NSU.
