James Ongley, Ph.D., is the second lab manager for the Broward Sheriff's Office Crime lab. He has been in that position since 2004. He graduated from the University of Florida 1973 with a B.S. in Zoology, University of Florida Medical School 1977 and Nova University 1989. He has been a medical examiner in Broward County and then a public defender in Broward for 14 years. The BSO Lab
was the first Sheriff's Crime Lab to become ISO accredited in 2004. He has testified in death penalty cases as a Medical Examiner and represented defendants in death penalty cases as well. He teaches as an Adjunct Professor on the subjects of Crime Scene Investigation and Crime Lab Management. He is the current President of the Florida Association of Crime Lab Directors.
