Dorothea Coleman-Brewer M.A., TRS/TXC, RTC, CTRS, ACC; is an Adjunct Instructor for Nova Southeastern University since 2013. She is a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with 35+ years of experience in the community doing clinical work and instruction as an adjunct professor. She was previously and adjunct faculty member at Lamar University, Houston Community College, Victoria Community College, and Alvin Community College teaching Activity Director and Therapeutic Recreation classes. She is the Executive Director of Recreation Activity Resources; an online course and workshop website. She currently works part-time as a contract Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for the State of Texas CLASS Program (Community Living Assistance and Support Services) which provides home-and community based services to people with related conditions as a cost-effective alternative to placement in an intermediate care facility for individuals with an intellectual disability or a related condition that originated before age 22 and that affects a person’s ability to function in daily life. Finally, she has been a Therapeutic Recreation Consultant since 1986.
