The Department of Curriculum and Instruction meets the needs of aspiring teachers and school administrators, veteran educators who want to deepen their knowledge of a subject, and those seeking careers in education-related fields. Guided by current research, our programs serve pre-service and in-service teachers and others working in a variety of educational contexts and a range of academic fields. Degree programs provide opportunities to connect theory to practice through engaging instructional practices.

Programs at the undergraduate level and select graduate programs lead to teacher certification in a variety of content areas. Graduate programs have diverse offerings for those interested in advancing their knowledge and careers. As leaders in their fields, faculty members in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction are known for their scholarly work, research-oriented activities, and student-centered approach. Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, where our community of educators is committed to developing the next generation of teachers and school leaders. Our goal is to provide our students with innovative opportunities to collaborate, research, and learn alongside nationally and internationally-recognized faculty. We engage with diverse communities to ensure instruction is developed in the broadest frames of reference and delivered through evidence-based practices across a variety of modalities. Our innovative undergraduate and graduate programs, including our state-approved certification programs and those that develop subject-matter expertise, can be tailored to fit your career aspirations. The department is committed to the values of cultural responsiveness and global awareness in preparing transformative teachers and administrators for a changing world.
