I graduated from Clemson University in 1993 with a BA in Secondary Education – History. After a semester of substitute work, I was hired to teach in the Opportunity School in Danville, Va. It was a program of last resort for many students, and I was the social studies department, teaching every subject offered. After a few years, I transferred over to the main school, George Washington High School where I taught mostly World History, Geography, and Government. In 2001, my wife and I moved to Greenville, SC and I began teaching at Southside High School, focusing on Government/Economics, World Geography, and World History. AP World was added to my resume in 2006 and I have been teaching it to mainly freshmen ever since. Upon reading that College Board needed readers to score exams, I put in my application, was hired for the 2010 read in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and have been to it every year since then. In the spring of 2015, I was part of the piloting of AP Insight for World History and was invited to become a consultant. That fall, I was asked to be part of the consultant team for all of AP World History. I have been happily married to Michelle for 22 years, and we have 3 kids- 15, 13, and 9 – and 1 spoiled rescue pup.
