The Master of Science in Education with a Specialization in Charter School Education Leadership at the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Fischler College of Education focuses on administration, leadership, and teaching in charter schools. This master’s degree specialization provides students with training in the overall educational industry, curriculum, assessment, managing charter school administration, public relations, and various other topics of interest to the charter school stakeholder. Course content for an M.S.Ed. in Charter School Education Leadership is research based and infuses best practices in education.

Coursework for a Master of Science in Education degree with a Specialization in Charter School Education Leadership at the Fischler College of Education is conducted entirely online. This approach allows students to receive and submit coursework and interact with participants and professors via the Internet. This distance delivery option allows busy professionals to complete their master’s degree in charter school education leadership without having to leave their jobs or travel long distances.

The school leadership internship is one of the many practical applications included in the charter school education leadership specialization. It is the final step in the completion of the M.S.Ed. program. The purpose of this internship is to provide the candidate with an opportunity to perform the duties of a charter school administrator in an actual work setting. Under the guidance of an experienced, cooperating administrator and a faculty supervisor, the intern is provided with opportunities to interview, observe, work with, and perform the duties of school leaders in a charter school setting. Candidates must complete leadership portfolios and seminars related to the role and responsibilities of school leaders.

Faculty members for the master of science in education are scholars and educators from Nova Southeastern University and other major universities and institutions throughout the country. In addition many are also highly respected professional practitioners, who are carefully selected on the basis of their subject expertise, teaching abilities, and professional involvement. Most importantly, they are united in their desire to not only educate, but to inspire students to use what they learn to motivate others.

  • Satisfactory completion of all required courses for the specialization in charter school education leadership;
  • Successful completion of School Leadership Internship;
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
  • Completed application for Master of Science in Education degree.
