Dr. Jolen Troy Robinson completed his doctorate in the Instructional Technology and Distance Education program at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1999. His dissertation focused on increasing the integration of technology in an elementary school through staff development that incorporated technology, cooperative learning, and multiple Intelligences. He was recognized as the Florida Instructional Technology Leader by the Florida Association for Computers in Education.

In public education, Dr. Robinson has served as an elementary classroom teacher, computer teacher, reading specialist, and assistant principal.    His experience in higher education includes professor of teacher education, in which he has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses in the traditional face-to-face setting, as well as international and online teaching for several universities.  Additionally, he served as the Director of the Graduate Teacher Education Program of Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler College of Education and was recognized as a finalist for the university’s Administrator of the Year award.  He is currently assistant professor and program coordinator in the Department of Language and Literacy.

Dr. Robinson’s areas of professional interest include technology integration, administrative uses of technology, educational leadership, instructional leadership, elementary education, differentiated instruction, reading and emergent literacy, writing, ethics in education, and professional learning communities. 

Dr. Robinson is an avid gardener, with a special interest in cacti and succulents as well as orchids, bromeliads, palms, and other tropical plants in South Florida.  He loves gardening in South Florida because it’s a hobby he can enjoy all year long.  In addition to gardening, he enjoys reading (very eclectic tastes) and exercising.  He is hooked on his Kindle Fire because he can read without glasses while pedaling and sweating on the stationary bike at the gym!
