Mel D. Coleman is an Associate Professor for the College of Education and Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University. He has served as deputy superintendent at Palm Beach School District in Palm Beach County, Florida. He served as executive director of accountability in the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas; as deputy superintendent in Columbus, Ohio; and Superintendent for eight years in Mansfield, Ohio.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from The Ohio State University, a Master of Science degree from Ohio University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Teachers College of Columbia University. In addition, Dr. Coleman has been a teacher, counselor, principal, and curriculum director in the PK-12 public schools. He has also been an adjunct professor of curriculum and instruction at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. He is currently teaching educational leadership courses, coordinating administrative internships, and working with the masters, specialist, and doctoral programs at Abraham S. Fischler College of Education.
