Welcome to the Department of Teaching & Learning!
Our department is the proud home of internationally and nationally recognized programs leading to degrees in a variety of Teacher Education fields for aspiring teacher candidates and practitioners pursuing experiences to enrich and gain new knowledge. Our department is aimed at delivering excellence in teacher education and inspiring educators. Programs provide preparation for teacher candidates at the undergraduate level (A.A. and B.S.) in elementary and secondary content areas. Graduate level programs offer experiences at an advanced level, leading to Master's (M.S.) and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degrees. The department also offers three concentrations at the doctoral level (Ed.D.) in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and STEM.
Teaching & Learning programs are characterized by their focus on bringing research into practice with an emphasis on research-based practices for successful teaching and educational decision making in today's socially and culturally diverse contexts. Curricular experiences integrate field-based activities and current topics, leading students to ponder and examine societal and educational issues from local, national, and global perspectives. Classes provide students with engaging and personal experiences and opportunities for students to work closely with faculty members.
Our department faculty includes experienced practitioners who are nationally and internationally recognized scholars and researchers. Their research areas and interests include a wide range of topics from cultural diversity and STEM strategies, to research-based practices for students with exceptionalities.
We welcome your interest in our department, and invite you to contact us to learn more about our engaging programs.
